This painting began with a quiet, neutral palette, but as I worked, it became increasingly about what is revealed and what is concealed. I built up layers of paint and then scraped, covered, and exposed areas beneath them, allowing traces of earlier decisions to remain. The soft whites, warm earth tones, and touches of blue-gray suggest light, stone, water, and weather without describing any particular place. There is a sense of something familiar that can't quite be identified.

I am interested in that space between what we see and what we remember. What Remains is about the marks, experiences, and fragments that stay with us—even after everything else has changed.
