I am fascinated by what happens when a painting is allowed to show its history. In Evidence of Time, I built layers of paint, marks and gestural lines, then covered, scraped and worked back into them. Nothing is completely erased. Earlier marks reappear unexpectedly and become part of the final composition. The neutral palette quiets the painting while the lines and fragments underneath create movement and tension. Like memory, time leaves evidence behind.
