Three Chiclets

Sometimes a painting doesn't arrive carrying the weight of the world. Sometimes it simply wants to make you smile. Three Chiclets grew from an intuitive process of layered color, expressive marks, and playful experimentation. As bold pinks, oranges, lavenders, and charcoal gestures danced across the canvas, tiny white squares began appearing throughout the composition. They instantly reminded me of the little candy-coated Chiclets gum that many of us enjoyed as children.  What began as an abstract painting became a celebration of nostalgia—the small, ordinary memories that unexpectedly stay with us. Those simple pieces of gum became symbols of carefree afternoons, laughter, and the uncomplicated joy of being young.  While the painting is energetic and spontaneous, it also reminds us that happiness is often found in life's smallest moments. Not every work of art has to carry a profound message. Sometimes it simply offers a reason to pause, remember, and smile.
